Hamas is a construct that should not exist. It is not something that organically arose from the people representing their wishes. The purpose of Hamas and the reason why Modern Israel has created and financed it (according to Israeli media and others) has been to ensure that the peace that the people want can never be achieved and the only solution is shooting Palestinian children in the head until none are left.
Support for the fact that Hamas is a creation of Modern Israel that supports Modern Israel's desire to not ever be able to have a peaceful or humane settlement:

For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.
The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.

“The Palestinian Authority is a burden. Hamas is an asset.” - Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich
Shlomo Brom, a retired general and former deputy to Israel’s national security adviser, said an empowered Hamas helped Netanyahu avoid negotiating over a Palestinian state. “One effective way to prevent a two-state solution is to divide between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank,” he said in an interview. The division gives Netanyahu an excuse to disengage from peace talks, Brom said, adding that he can say, “I have no partner.”

"Hamas was financed by the government of Israel in an attempt to weaken the Palestinian Authority led by Fatah." - EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell
Let us also consider that Hamas' leaders are in Qatar not Gaza. Yet it is civilians in Gaza that are bombed and shot. To the people of Gaza Hamas is a foreign terrorist group which somehow claims to represent them. Most of their financing comes from Israel and the international community.
It has always been a simple matter for Modern Israel to present Qatar with an ultimatum: turn over the Hamas terrorist leaders you are hosting, or we will declare war on you and destroy you. This has a precedent as it is what the US told Afghanistan when they hosted bin Laden and al Qaeda leaders. Afghanistan refused and the US declared war and began bombing.
Around 70% of Gazans have stated they do not trust Hamas.
By not pursuing this obvious path of issuing an ultimatum to Qatar we know that the goal is not peace. Nor is it to stop Modern Israel's pet Hamas. The goal is the total eradication of the Palestinian people.
Nor will it stop there given the accumulating evidence of a dream in something called Greater Israel which Israeli soldiers and officials have shown maps of. This Greater Israel includes Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, parts of Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Now that Gaza has been destroyed the plan for Greater Israel has advanced to the next stage in which Lebanon now must be conquered and then purged of its natives, who are part of whom the Modern Israeli school curriculum labels Amalekites. Allegedly the Amalekites were a Bronze Age nation whom Hashem ordered Ancient Israel to utterly destroy, each man woman and child. This story, which has no historical evidence supporting it, is taught intensively in Modern Israel's schools as a fact, with Palestinians identified as modern Amalekites who must be destroyed. Also identified as Amalekites are practitioners of Judaism who do not support the genocide, who are portrayed as traitors, as well now as the Lebanese.
The nonsensical equating of various groups with the extinct or possibly nonexistent Amalekites and the quest for Greater Israel is massively destabilizing to not just the region but to the entire world. And nothing at all about this conforms with the values or history of modern rabbinical Judaism, which began around 200CE. A revival of tales from the Bronze Era and restoration of its values of brutality, ignorance and tribal warfare has no place in the modern world. No enlightened or educated person can reasonably support any of this barbaric savagery.
Hamas lovers include Modern Israel's coalition government that has created and financed them, AIPAC, US evangelicals, much of the Israeli public, and many other Americans. Hamas lovers do not include most Gazans nor do they include a single Jewish person who is advocating for a better path.
